In our cellar, we produce white wines from varieties such as Pinela, Zelen, Rebula, Malvasia, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Laški Rizling, Vitovska Garganja, and Pinot Blanc, as well as red wines from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Barbera varieties.New to our offer is sparkling wine made from the indigenous Pinela variety. We sell the majority of our harvest as bulk wine in our local cellar and at additional cellar locations throughout Slovenia. Wine made from high-quality grapes of selected varieties is bottled.
Pinela is an indigenous variety of the Vipava Valley, known for its delicate fruity aroma. The wine is fresh, light, and easy-drinking. It pairs beautifully with appetizers, fish dishes, poultry, light vegetable dishes, and young cheese.
Rebula contains a distinct fruity aroma reminiscent of ripe figs or pears. The wine is drinkable and harmonious, with a fairly intense and persistent flavor. It is recommended with pasta dishes and main courses of fish, poultry, pork, and lamb.
Zelen is also an indigenous variety of the Vipava Valley, containing a refined, delicate, and elegant aroma reminiscent of the scent of ripe peaches and pears. It has a light, drinkable taste with a pleasant hint of tropical fruits. It is recommended with more spicy and enriched dishes of poultry, pork, and lamb.
Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine of characteristic garnet to cherry-red color, with an elegant aroma reminiscent of herbal notes and the scent of fresh and ripe forest fruits. With aging processes, the wine develops a refined and elegant bouquet of dried plums, vanilla, jam, and ripe forest fruits. It has a fresh and full taste, with soft and rounded tannins enriching the harmony and elegance of the flavor. It pairs nicely with beef and game dishes, as well as aged cheeses with more pronounced flavors.
Malvasia contains a characteristic, moderately intense herbal or fruity aroma reminiscent of ripe bananas and acacia flowers. It has a drinkable, light, full, extractive taste with a harmonious, seductive, and long-lasting elegant flavor. It is recommended with risottos, pasta dishes, and main courses of poultry, fish, pork, and lamb.
Rosé is produced from Barbera grapes. Because this is a more acidic grape, we let it reach maximum ripeness. With a few hours of maceration, we achieve the appropriate color and tannin content. In the rich fruity aroma, we find scents of red fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, and red currants. The wine is delicate and fresh. It is served with pork dishes, young beef, and higher quality fish and shellfish.

We manage the family vineyard together: my husband Franc, wife Alenka, and our daughter Ana, who recently became a young successor to the farm. Wine has been produced on the homestead for generations before us, albeit in smaller quantities. In addition to vineyards, our ancestors also cultivated fields and orchards and raised cattle. However, since 2005, we have focused solely on viticulture and winemaking: we planted vines and appropriately renovated and updated part of the cellar. Currently, we cultivate 8 hectares of vineyards with approximately 30,000 vines. Most of the work in the cellar is done by my husband Franc and daughter Ana. However, during major tasks in the vineyard and cellar, all three of us join forces. During the most important time of the year - the harvest - many friends voluntarily help us as we do manual harvesting. My wife Alenka pampers them with various treats, as she is a good cook and renowned pastry chef. Under her pen, 9 books have been published with various dessert recipes and good advice.
Throughout history, fruit growing, viticulture, and basketry have developed in the village of Budanje. Many crops were sold by villagers in larger cities such as Idrija, Trieste, and Ljubljana, which they carried on foot. They also made special birch brooms and brushes, earning them the nickname "BROOM MAKERS." These special brooms and the nickname have remained recognizable symbols of the village. On the label, we can see a symbolic picture of the Budanje broom, representing the foundation of our cellar emblem. The letter "K" represents the initial of our surname, which marks the beginning of the history of our cellar.
